How is this drug? What are its effects?
Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that belongs to the family of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It is used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria. Ciprofloxacin is most often used against infections of skin, sinus, bone, lung, ear, abdomen, kidney, prostate and bladder.
It is also used to treat some sexually transmitted infections, some forms of infectious diarrhea and typhoid fever.
Ciprofloxacin extended release is used to treat infections of the bladder and kidneys.
It may be that your doctor has suggested that this drug for a condition that is not in this article of drug information. In addition, some forms of the drug could not be used for all the problems mentioned in this article. How should we use this drug?
The recommended adult dose of ciprofloxacin tablets varies from 250 mg to 750 mg taken twice a day. In the case of sexually transmitted infections, the dose is given once in a single dose.
When ciprofloxacin, give intravenous (into a vein), the usual dose ranges from 200 mg to 400 mg injected every 8 or 12 hours. The exact dose is determined by the disorder that is treated and other factors.
Ciprofloxacin tablets should be taken before or after meals.
Ingest large amounts of liquids when you use ciprofloxacin, and avoid dairy products. Ciprofloxacin may be taken with milk during a meal, but you should avoid taking ciprofloxacin strictly with dairy or calcium enriched products. Use not antacids, supplements of calcium, magnesium, aluminum or iron, multivitamins, 6 hours before or 2 hours after taking ciprofloxacin.
If you use this drug as oral suspension, use a syringe to measure each dose instead of spoons tea of household which does give you the exact amount.
Several factors may be considered to determine the dose a person needs: its weight, its state of health and the taking of other drugs. If your doctor has recommended one another dose that those stated here, do not change the manner of taking the drug without first consulting.

When is this drug deprecated?
Ciprofloxacin should not be used in the following circumstances:
an allergy to ciprofloxacin, or one of the ingredients of the drug;
an allergy to other antibiotics of the quinolone family;
treatment by current tizanidine.
Are there any other precautions or warnings?
Before using a drug, be sure to inform your doctor of the medical conditions or allergies you may have, the drugs you use and any other material facts about your health. Women should mention if they are pregnant or if they are breastfeeding. These factors could influence how you should use this drug.
Allergic reactions: sometimes, but rarely, people observe an allergic reaction to this drug. Among the signs of an allergic reaction there was a severe skin rash, swelling of the face or respiratory difficulty. If these signs occur, contact your doctor immediately.
Antibiotic-associated diarrhea: like many other antibiotics, ciprofloxacin may cause a form of acute diarrhea related to inflammation of the colon called pseudomembranous colitis. If acute diarrhea said while taking this medicine, contact your doctor.
Changes in behaviour and involuntary movements: this drug rarely causes the behavior changes that occur by restlessness, anxiety, confusion, depression, tremors, hallucinations and other changes in mood. If you experience any of these signs, contact your doctor immediately.
Drowsiness or reduced vigilance: ciprofloxacin may alter your ability to drive a vehicle or operate machines, especially when it is combined with alcohol. Do not drive a vehicle or operate machines to the point where you have determined the effect of this drug on your mental reaction capabilities.
Renal function: as ciprofloxacin is largely eliminated from the body by the kidney, persons with diminished renal function should be under strict medical supervision while they take ciprofloxacin. It may be that their doctor prescribe them a lower dose.
Other infections: the long use of ciprofloxacin may cause yeast or fungal infections.
Seizures: this medication causes rarely of seizures. If you have a medical condition that may increase the risk of seizures, you should be under strict medical surveillance. If you do seizures while you use this drug stop taking and seek immediate medical care.
Sucrose intolerance: this drug oral suspension contains sucrose. People with an inherited disorder that causes an intolerance to some sugars should not use the oral suspension.
Sensitivity to the Sun: it is likely that the skin of the persons who employ ciprofloxacin become more sensitive to sunburn. Use caution if you need to spend time in the sun while taking ciprofloxacin. Stop processing if a sensitivity to the Sun occurs.
Tendinitis: ciprofloxacin may increase the possibility of damage to the tendons. Seniors who use corticosteroid therapy are more likely to observe these inflammations. If pain occurs in the tendons, stop treatment with ciprofloxacin, avoid physical exercise and consult your physician.
Pregnancy: this drug should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits prevail over the risk. If a pregnancy in the event that you use this drug, stop treatment immediately and call your doctor.
Breastfeeding: this drug passes into breast milk. If you are taking this medicine while you are breastfeeding, your baby could feel the effects. See your doctor to find out if you should continue breastfeeding.
Children: or the safety or the efficacy of this drug has been established with respect to children aged less than 18 years.
